Guest Artist Dona Lantz

The guest artist for the month of May is Dona Lantz. After a long career in art academia at several colleges Dona retired to the generational family farm just outside of Brookland, IL.

A photographer with many exhibitions both solo and group in her resume, she worked primarily in the administration at the college level and often in curriculum design, most recently as Provost at Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, OH. Since her retirement she had a section of her father’s blacksmithing shed converted to a studio where she creates her photographic art. This was interrupted by caretaking duties for the last months of her mother’s life. During this time she kept herself grounded by taking note of the things around her on her daily evening walks and she began contemplating the fragility of all living things. This led to her creation of 24 diptychs combining two images that reflect this theme. She titles this exhibit Eventually, inspired by the word painted on a brick wall in Plymouth, IL. A portion of this collection will be on display at Alliance during the month of May.

An opening reception will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 4:00 until 7:00 pm. This event is free and open to the public.
