Jamie Green will be the Alliance Art Gallery's Guest Artist for the month of October. Well known in the tri-state area for his drawings and caricature work, Green is a member of the International Society of Caricature Artists, a founding member of Sketch Spot, a weekly gathering for local artists and a participating member of the Quincy Art Center's life drawing sessions.
Green, a Quincy native, works in watercolor, pencil, pen and ink and marker. He creates works of local scenery, historical landmarks and architecture. His drawings often feature vibrant, colorful and humorous renditions of the past and a simpler time. Green wants people to view his work and remember things from their past.
Along with his paintings of local flavor, Green is well known for his caricatures.
For over twenty years he has been entertaining with his drawings at weddings, receptions and parties. His private commissions for portrait work of pets, people houses and greeting cards has given him a popular following in the area.
Always looking for ways to grow and improve his art Green continues his education thru classes and sessions with various artists and has studied art at Culver-Stockton College.
An exhibit of his work will open on Saturday October 11, with a reception beginning at 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will continue thru November 2. You can see more of Green's work at his website. www.jgcartoons.com
